iFIT selected Syndicate to take viewers on an unprecedented hike through Mt. Everest Base Camp. Our team in Utah collaborated with iFIT’s field producers and production to bring this historic event to life, utilizing a bonded internet and BGAN satellite connection creating a never-before-seen experience for viewers walking on their treadmills at home. This remarkable broadcast event garnered a prestigious Sports Emmy® nomination for interactive television.
The Challenge
When iFit presented us with the incredible opportunity to broadcast a live hike from Mt. Everest Base Camp, we knew we were up against a monumental challenge. Our mission was to capture the breathtaking beauty of the world's highest mountain and convey the sense of awe to viewers, all while they remained engaged and motivated during their treadmill workout. We recognized the need for a remote integration model (REMI) production that would seamlessly connect the base camp to the living rooms of fitness enthusiasts.

The Solution
To overcome the challenges and bring the grandeur of Mt. Everest within reach of our viewers, we assembled a team of experts dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation. We devised a groundbreaking technology framework that enabled us to transmit the live hike in real-time using more than a half a mile of fiber laid on the mountain and a compact satellite transmission system, ensuring an authentic and captivating experience for everyone participating from their treadmills at home.
A Thrilling Journey for Viewers
From the comfort of their treadmills, iFIT members joined our mountain climbing guide on a virtual 35-minute hike through Mt. Everest Base Camp. The crew skillfully captured the awe-inspiring landscapes, allowing viewers to witness the breathtaking vistas, the vibrant Sherpa culture, and the sheer magnitude of the journey to world's highest peak. Every step of the way, we aimed to motivate and inspire fitness enthusiasts, transforming their treadmill workouts into extraordinary adventures.
